The Mary Poppins Drawer of Possibility (+ a little giveaway)

Does this look familiar?…

Yes. It’s that one drawer in your house that is the family’s dumping ground. Need a hair elastic? A Panadol? An allen key to put together your new Ikea furniture? This is where you’ll find one.

I like to call it: The Mary Poppins Drawer of Fun.

I think I am a reasonably organised person, but for some reason The Mary Poppins Drawer of Fun is completely UNorganised – mostly with take away menus that have been tried (or the intention to try). And as we have moved house 3 times in the last 4 years, we have quite the impressive collection of Melbourne’s finest (and not so fine) take-away menus.

Having only moved again recently, I was planning to do the usual pick up of menus around our new neighbourhood – only to remember that we don’t really use them anymore.

Jimmy and I have been calling on our new bestie Menulog for over 12 months now. And I will (reluctantly) give him the credit for finding it first – I am normally so clever with these sort of life-changing initiatives, but strangely this time it was all his doing.

Menulog is an online take away directory that allows you to search and order all sorts of deliciousness in and around your neighbourhood.

Whatever your caper – busy family life, single, terrible at cooking, or in my case completely time poor from running my business – it can often mean some nights it’s just all a bit too hard to pull a meal together. So Menulog has been pretty great for us.

This is how it usually goes: Following the stark realisation that it’s the end of the day and we are yet to plan something for dinner, James does a quick search on menulog’s phone app during his commute from work. He has the order in by the time I can say:

“It’s dark outside! Dark = dinner. Holy Spring Roll! What are we going to have for dinner?”

It’s stupidly easy to use. Jump onto the app or website, enter your postcode and hot diggity-dog, a list of tasty-get-in-ma-belly options appears before your eyes ripe for the picking. There are even specials and reviews from previous customers sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly to help guide your choice.

And guess what? I’ve got a sweet $25 gift voucher to giveaway to a lucky sorella-hood reader to try it out for themselves!

A free dinner! What buffoon would say no to that?!!

  1. Can’t go past Indian to satisfy my takeaway cravings… so many delicious vegetarian options and I’m always in the mood for it!

  2. Oh I had no idea that this existed and it covers Perth! There are some great Indian places near us – would love a mild curry in a hurry.
